Samsung’s not really the first name we think of when we’re talking about smartphones and music. It seems like there are a million and one dock options for iPhones, and HTC has its Beats Audio affiliation to play up, but Samsung, despite its Galaxy Player and Muse/S-Pebble MP3 player, really doesn’t get much audio attention. The company may be planning to change that, as revealed through some leaked info on an upcoming speaker doc.
The spherical dock will offer a pair of stereo three watt channels, and support connections a number of different ways, giving it compatibility well beyond that of just Samsung’s own smartphones. For phones with a micro USB port on the bottom, the dock will allow playback over USB. When that’s not an option, you can connect phones to the dock over Bluetooth 3.0, and as a fallback when none of that’s possible, you can just connect a 1/8-inch stereo plug.
Reportedly, Samsung will debut this dock at one of 2013′s early year trade shows, with retail availability later that quarter. For the moment, there’s no word on cost.
