Nokia Reveals Lumia 505
Back in October, we heard Nokia announce its budget-priced Lumia 510, an affordable alternative to its Windows Phone 8 lineup, targeted at developing nations. Today, the 510 gets joined by the 505, a budget model with a slightly different look, and this time set to make its debut in Mexico.
The 505 runs Windows Phone 7.8, and features a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display. As shouldn’t be much of a surprise for a model like this, the 505 has a scant 256MB of RAM and just 4GB of flash. Connectivity options include 3G on the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands.
While models like the 505 aren’t going to win Nokia any special placement among the smartphone elite, affordable Windows Phone devices could be key not only to Nokia’s worldwide sales, but to the future of the Windows Phone platform itself.
For now, we still don’t have precise launch details for the Lumai 505, but it’s expected to become available on Telcel in Mexico sometime in the very near future.
