One of the trending topics in mobile this year, thanks to Samsung and its Galaxy Note II — which we’re giving away this week –, is “phablet”. We’ve got some interesting considerations on why we think we won’t see Windows Phone-powered phablets soon but today’s image raises a couple of eyebrows.
We’ve heard of the codename Juggernaut before but we couldn’t find out more details beyond the rumors; that being said, the device pictured above and below is claimed by the leakster as the Juggernaut. Of course, the leakster also claims this is a new Windows Phone 8 despite the old logo on the bottom (which could either indicate an old prototype or a yanked project).
The text on the sides clearly indicates that this is indeed a prototype phone. The number of Live Tiles and the arrangement seems to indicate Windows Phone 8 (or 7.8 running on the old prototype) but there’s nothing more to go by at the moment, except the Windows Phone 8 text in the About screen together with mention of WVGA resolution. Despite looking quite large (thanks to the enormous bezels on the top and bottom) we believe the screen is still below five inches and not in phablet territory. What do you think it is? Old prototype, maybe abandoned? Something we should expect soon? Let us know.
