Even before Microsoft’s hint that Windows Phone 7.8 should land early 2013 we had a hunch that Mango users will have to buy a new calendar before the update arrived. What exactly will it bring? We know of some of the additions, like the new Start Screen, but a purported Nokia survey can shed some light on what will be included.
The features are divided in two categories: those from Microsoft and those from Nokia. A new homescreen experience with more room for your Live Tiles, which are now resizable, the ability to set a Bing image of the day as the Lock Screen wallpaper, pocket and child Lock screen Security as well as 20 new accent theme colors are coming to your device courtesy of Microsoft.
Nokia will throw in Bluetooth sharing abilities for DRM free media files, an add-on called Cinemagraph to create animations (animated pictures), new camera lenses to remove unwanted objects in your photos, updated Contacts Transfer application, updated Contact Share application, and the Ringtone Maker application we’ve already heard about.
As far as other manufacturers are concerned the situation is even more obscure. Whether they’ll only see Microsoft features above or the OEM will include some additional bits is still unknown.
