Does anyone really know what’s going on with the Samsung ATIV S at this point? The earliest-announced Windows Phone model’s retail debut has been a subject of much debate over the past few months. First it’s delayed, and then it’s not, and we just heard yesterday that the phone might not even show its face until February 2013. Once again, Samsung is having to speak out to confirm its plans to release the phone before the year’s out.
This time, it was WPCentral that managed to get Samsung’s ear, where the manufacturer confirmed that the ATIV S is still scheduled for the “end of the year”. Frustratingly, Samsung once again has managed to attempt to debunk all these rumors without going into the sort of detail we’d need on just where the phone will go up for sale, and when, that would provide some actual ammunition against all this uncertainty.
Stores in some nations are already displaying ATIV S cardboard cutouts in anticipation of the phone’s arrival. Leaving those out for too long is going to start making Samsung look pretty bad, so we hope it manages to follow-through with its plans.
