We’ve heard about a couple updates arriving for Google Drive for Android over the past few months, and while the iOS version of Drive saw some big new functionality come to it, the Android updates were a little leaner; sure, it got the ability to view tables, but you were out of luck if you wanted to edit them. That all changes now, as Google’s got a new update out for Android’s Drive that brings table and spreadsheet editing to the app, along with a few other changes.
Spreadsheet junkies should love these new features, with a new UI and the ability to manipulate cells and edit their contents. That’s going to go a very long way towards making Drive a really useful tool for getting work done, and not just a way to check on figures you prepared ahead of time.
Beyond the new editing functions, Drive sees some improvements to how it handles clipboard data. You can also place a link to files right on your home screen, for quick access to docs you’re constantly working with. Bundle that all with some UI tweaks to make editing functions easier to access, and this sounds like a pretty substantial Drive update; if you’re getting the same sense, be sure to check out the new update, or visit the Play Store to install Drive for the first time if you’ve yet to give it a shot.
