The common saying these days is that they don’t make anything like they used to. That also holds true for smartphones since they are in no way as strong as the old Motorola bricks we carried a decade ago. Then again, they weren’t called smartphones either. That’s why we love torture tests. We allow people to do crazy things for us, before we’re in the unfortunate situation of seeing it happen to our own investment. Usually a hammer meets a screen, or we see the usual drop test that can never be too harsh.

Now this torture test is what I’d like to call the ultimate test. Not only did they run-over the phone with a car, but they chose a very heavy car. Now the fact that the glass and polycarbonate didn’t break while being run-over doesn’t necessarily mean that the device didn’t get scratched or dented. It’s really hard to notice this on a white device, and also hard to notice it on camera. That said, the Lumia 920 does seem like the tank we were expecting, judging mainly by its weight.

What’s next? Running it over with a truck?
