Are we ever going to see Samsung release a Galaxy S II Plus? After all, the first Galaxy S saw the manufacturer release a Plus version, and we’ve been hearing rumors that Samsung could be planning the same sort of thing for the S II since the very beginning of this year. While the hardware has yet to surface, we could finally be starting to close in on it, as new rumors peg its release date to early 2013.
Supposedly, the white GS2 Plus could arrive in mid-January, with the blue version shipping in early February. Over the course of the past year, we’ve heard quite a few theories about just what hardware such a phone would run, and a lot of that focused on a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos.
While this new rumor doesn’t give us much in the way of hardware specs, it does mention the phone falling into Samsung’s lineup between the GS3 Mini and the Galaxy Premier, which has us thinking that maybe we won’t be seeing an Exynos chip, after all. Whatever we get, you can bet that it will be solidly mid-range.
