If you have an LG Optimus G on AT&T, like the one we have recently reviewed, or on Sprint, and you want to do some deep customizations, you will probably need to have an unlocked bootloader. This is now possible via Project FreeGee which unlocks both phones in preparation for custom ROMs.
If you are familiar with all the disclaimers and you apply this unlocker you will probably have to double-check on every OTA update you’ll receive in the future to see whether it is compatible with this solution or not. LG might be able to patch this workaround. You’ll have to have a Windows-based computer (more OS solutions will be added soon, says the developer) in order to get things done but if that’s not a problem head over to the appropriate source links below and check for downloads, instructions and feedback.
