With all the tablet news that’s happened since, what with the release of the 32GB and 3G Nexus 7, the Nexus 10, and Apple’s iPad mini, it can be easy to forget that early September brought us news of Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD models. While the seven-incher’s been around since shortly thereafter, we’ve been waiting this whole time for the larger, 1900 x 1200, 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD to get here. Amazon had been saying that the tablet would finally go up for sale on November 20, but you may be able to get your hands on one just a little sooner.
Users who had pre-ordered the WiFi-only version of the Fire HD 8.9 will see their orders start shipping today. There’s still a few days to go before the cellular-enabled Fire HD 8.9 finds itself in the same position, so its pre-orders won’t ship until November 20.
There’s already a bit of a backlog for new orders placed through Amazon, but you can always turn to a brick-and-mortar retailer to avoid that wait. Best Buy will have the Fire HD 8.9 on its shelves as of tomorrow, and other retailers are expected to join it in the coming weeks.
