We’ve heard a number of rumors this fall about Huawei’s plans for Windows Phone 8. There have been both pics and renders to arrive of a handset that will supposedly launch as the Huawei Ascend W1, and we’ve also heard about the possibility of a higher-end model, the Ascend W2. Today we get some new images to look at, which may just reveal the W2 in the flesh.
While the rumor mill seems to be championing the idea that this hardware is the W2, could it be something slightly different? After all, that calendar tile, with its conveniently-placed specs, mentions an Ascend W3, instead. For that matter, how do we know this is even a Huawei handset at all? The W1 that we’ve seen either had a nice, big Huawei logo on its back, or a piece of tape obscuring the logo; this has neither. That mention of a “concept” has our warning lights flashing, as well.
So, for the moment, we’re not entirely sure what to make of this find. It could very well be the W2, the W3, or maybe just a prototype never intended for release.
