Since last month, we’ve been hearing rumors that a forthcoming software update for Samsung’s Galaxy S III would deliver Multi Window View support. That’s the same split-screen mode we know from the Galaxy Note II and the hardware-refreshed Galaxy S III Alpha. Supposedly, it would arrive with a future Android 4.1.2 release. That’s now looking like a very strong possibility, thanks to an early 4.1.2 ROM leak revealing the presence of Multi Window View, along with a litany of other new features.

Other carry-overs from the Note II include the Paper Artist app and the new Gallery, but we imagine Multi Window View is going to receive most of the attention.

If you’re feeling brave and want to try this out on your own Galaxy S III, a download for Odin is available through the source link below. While the software is reportedly working just fine, there’s always the potential for bugs to crop up, or something to go wrong with the flash, so proceed at your own risk. For the rest of us, the final Android 4.1.2 Galaxy S III update is expected to arrive sometime next month.
