A couple days back, AT&T shared the details of how its first Windows Phone 8 handsets would arrive, with pre-orders opening yesterday and outright sales beginning tomorrow. Not content to let AT&T get all the attention, Verizon is now coming through with some launch details of its own.
The first two WP8 models to land at Verizon will be the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822. While the carrier isn’t saying when either will actually arrive with any more specificity than “sometime before Thanksgiving”, pre-orders for both models will begin early tomorrow morning.
The 16GB HTC 8X will sell for just about $200 on-contract, mirroring AT&T’s pricing. Unfortunately, Verizon’s not so competitive when it comes to the Lumia 822, which it will offer for around $100 on-contract, and that’s only after redeeming a $50 mail-in rebate. For comparison’s sake, the 820 on AT&T is going for half that, and with no rebate needed.
Somewhere down the line, Verizon will also get the Samsung ATIV Odyssey, but it doesn’t have anything to say about that model for now.
