Motorola Droid RAZR HD Suffering From Crazy Screen Issue?

Motorola’s Droid RAZR HD and its high-battery-capacity fraternal brother, the RAZR Maxx HD, landed at Verizon last month. We’ve put the phone through its paces since then, and were ultimately quite pleased with what Motorola managed to come up with. In particular, we were big fans of the phone’s new 720p display, a marked improvement from the qHD original. Not everyone’s been so enamored with the phone’s screen, though, as reports come in of some weird display corruption issues.

The discoloration exhibited by this effect is just bizarre. As you can check out in the image above, it’s reminiscent of what you might see when viewing a lower-quality LCD screen from a very steep angle, but here it’s happening under normal viewing conditions. While it may not look like it at first, this is quite likely to be a software problem, as the display returns to normal after putting the phone through a sleep cycle. Nonetheless, it’s a bit disconcerting.

We’re not sure how widespread this problem might be, but at least some RAZR HD owners have spoken up to confirm that they’ve seen something similar with their own handsets.
