Google Search App For iOS Brings Jelly Bean Voice Search To The iPhone

This is one of those ironic pieces of news that really frustrates even the most devoted of Android users. Google has just updated their Google Search app for iOS, and aside from bringing iPhone 5 compatibility, it also brings something that current owners of Android devices sporting Ice Cream Sandwich or bellow don’t have: Jelly Bean’s Voice Search. This service is not only faster than Siri in most cases, but also brings a more humane voice to its responses. It also provides responses in separate cards, which is more or like what Jelly Bean customers receive with Google Now.

The app also has the advantage of working on the iPad and iPod Touch, so if your device is not compatible with Siri, like in the case of the iPad 2, iPhone 4 or fourth-generation iPod Touch, this is definitely a great alternative. You’ll sadly not be able to map the service to your home button like you can do with Siri, but hey, you can’t win them all. You can download the app for free in iTunes.

It is extremely unfortunate that my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III can’t use this service, along with any other flagship Android smartphone that doesn’t run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Hopefully you guys can chime-in in the comments with your thoughts as many of us are particularly disappointed with the way Google is handling things for legacy customers.
