Shortly after Apple flipped the switch on iPad mini pre-orders this Friday the white version of the small slate has been sold out. Initial orders were delivering on November 2 but the status changed to reflect shipping in two weeks for those that weren’t fast enough. This is now the status for any storage variant of the WiFi iPad mini in white.
The black variant’s status has also been changed to reflect shipping in two weeks, at least for the 16GB model, meaning initial stock has been sold out. You can still get a 32- or 64GB variant to deliver on November 2 but seeing the rate at which the statuses are changed we wouldn’t be surprised to see these statuses being changed soon.
As we opined on our latest episode of the Pocketnow Weekly Podcast Apple either did a piss poor job at predicting and planning initial stocks vs. demand or they are facing some supply-chain problems that slow things down. We’re eagerly looking forward to getting the official press release on Monday, as usual, after a weekend of pre-orders.
