Thanks to the upcoming launch of Nokia’s new Windows Phone 8 devices, we’ve been thinking about wireless charging again. While not everyone’s on board with the idea, it’s definitely seeing a bit of resurgence in popularity. Could LG and Google be hoping to ride that wave with the release of the Nexus 4? That’s one possibility we now need to consider upon the release of the above photo, supposedly of a Nexus 4 charging pad.
It certainly looks the part of a Nexus charging pad, like a Nexus Q slashed in half. The basic design also reminds us of the old Palm Touchstone, only that was more of a slice out of a cylinder than of a sphere.
As phoneArena is rightfully quick to point out, though, this is exactly the sort of image someone could whip up in a jiffy in a 3D rendering program, and since we haven’t seen any other sign of its existence, in contrast to absolute deluge of Nexus 4 leaks that have already arrived, there’s some good reasons to treat this with a lot of skepticism.
The good news is that we won’t have long at all to wait before this find is either confirmed or discovered to be a fake, with the Nexus 4 announcement likely just days away.
