Last night, Samsung unveiled the US edition of its Galaxy Note II in a New York City event that traded subtlety for scale, a bombastic blowout scaled to fit the larger-than-life smartphone/tablet hybrid. In addition to a phablet-praising video testimonial from LeBron James and a star-studded VIP guest list, the packed house was treated to the musical stylings of Kanye West later in the evening as hundreds of new Galaxy Note IIs rolled video.
Thanks to Samsung, we had an opportunity for a few minutes of studio time with one of the new Galaxy Note II units. There’s not a lot new here; if you’ve read our full review, watched our S Pen lesson, or taken in any of our comparison videos, this will be familiar ground. Indeed, the US Galaxy Note II is nearly identical to its international counterpart, save for the change in LTE bands, branding decisions, and a few feature tweaks. All that aside, we thought we’d bring you a quick roundup of our impressions after a few minutes spent with a beautifully photographed Galaxy Note II.
Special thanks to Samsung and its partners for the studio and device hands-on time.
