Google’s almost sure to announce the new LG Nexus 4 at Monday’s event, but not everyone can wait those four long days. Retailer Carphone Warehouse seems to have jumped the gun a little, putting up a page for the Nexus 4 already, only to pull it right back down.
There’s a lot that’s odd about this, and makes us a bit unsure how to read the situation. If the Carphone Warehouse page was accurate while it was still up, we could hope to see the Nexus 4 arrive on October 30; that’s next Tuesday, immediately following Google’s event. The page also seemed to confirm some controversial details rumored about the handset, like having only 8GB of flash with no option for expansion.
To illustrate the Nexus 4, the site used that same render we looked at yesterday, for which there was ample reason to doubt its authenticity. Taken all together, you could almost see this as Carphone Warehouse just assembling a bunch of currently-available rumors about the Nexus 4 for its page. Could that be what happened here, or did the site actually have good info on the handset’s launch and accidentally set the page live too early?
