Even though it will become available only on November 2, the LG Optimus G is available for pre-orders and we’ve spent some quality time with the device for our review. While the phone is an excellent performer due to the Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC, power users will probably want to tweak it further. However, this might be difficult.
According to official wording from LG, “the Optimus G doesn’t support an unlocked bootloader”. This means that until the community manages to hack it open (or someone over at AT&T or LG changes their minds) there will be no custom ROM flashing and alike. Even if it stays locked, the LG Nexus 4, which is based off of the Optimus G, and which should be announced on Monday, will be the alternative for those who want extreme customization.
