According to a recent Sony Xperia Product Blog entry, the 2012 Xperia phones — Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V — will receive their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update starting mid-Q1 2013. That’s four months away from now and six months since the introduction of the phones at this year’s IFA.
Those who have older devices, but still part from the 2012 line-up, like the Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J, will be happy to find out that these phones are also on Sony’s Jelly Bean update list. Global versions are the only ones confirmed and there is no exact information related to timeframe.
Now for the bad news: the 2011 Xperia line-up will not be updated beyond Ice Cream Sandwich. “Beyond Ice Cream Sandwich we would not able to guarantee owners of these smartphones the user experience you expect and we demand”, says the post.
