When HTC announced its Windows Phone 8X, it revealed that the handset would land with 16GB on-board flash storage. Until now, there was no reason to think that the phone would arrive any way else, but as its expected release starts creeping up on us, a new rumor has arrived that claims we’ll also be seeing an 8GB version of the 8X.
Specifically, the source of this rumor claims that AT&T will have both an 8GB and a 16GB 8X for sale when the phone finally arrives. Based on the other information provided, dealing with AT&T’s employee training for WP8 sales, it’s likely this source has connections to AT&T’s retail division, but we can’t say for sure.
As such, we’re not sure how much faith to put in this claim, but it’s certainly nothing preposterous. Perhaps HTC is looking to offer something that falls in price between the 4GB 8S and the 16GB 8X. For now, its website continues to list 16GB as the only storage option, but maybe we’ll see that change in the coming weeks.
What do you think? Does it make any sense to release an 8GB 8X?
