October 10 came and went; initially there were rumors of an October 10 event where Apple should have released the iPad Mini but as the date approached the rumors shifted to attribute a new sense for the day: should have been the day when Apple was expected to send out the invites for an October 17 announcement. Had enough?
New reports indicate that Apple will hold an October 23 invite-only event; same iPad Mini will reportedly be the center of attention on a Tuesday which will be just three days before Microsoft will begin selling its Surface tablet. Apple has been known to use a lot of “available today” words in its presentations and if this is the case they are likely trying to beat Microsoft to the release, even though the two tablets (three actually because there are two Surface slates) are in completely different categories and no real competitors for each-other.
