In just a few days, we’ve gone from hearing rumors of the ASUS PadFone 2′s development to seeing save-to-dates to a PadFone 2 launch event. The hybrid convertible tablet continues to capture our attention today, as some of the first specs for the upcoming model have arrived.
An image of what’s reportedly the PadFone 2′s retail packaging reveals a number of hardware details. According to this, the phone itself will have a 4.7-inch 720p display, up from the 4.3-inch qHD component in the first PadFone (above). The camera should step up to a 13 megapixel sensor, with a 1.2-megapixel front-facer.
Just as rumored, look for a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, arriving alongside 2GB of RAM. While the first PadFone only had a 1520mAh battery, the PadFone 2 super-sizes that up to 2140mAh. Even with the larger battery, the phone manages to slim down a tad, measuring-in at just 9 millimeters thick. Is does get a little heavier, though, moving from 129g to 135g.
We’re still waiting for details on the tablet side of things, but just as a phone, the PadFone 2 is sounding pretty intriguing.
