Are you ready to upgrade to iOS 6? Back when Apple announced the iPhone 5, it revealed that owners of existing hardware would get their first access to iOS 6 today, September 19. What we hadn’t known exactly is just when today Apple might plan to release the software. According to one new rumor, it could be landing in just about three hours.
According to one theory on the release, Apple intends to make iOS 6 available at 1 PM Eastern this afternoon, 10 AM Pacific. That would mirror the start time of Apple’s event last week, so while this news is far from confirmed, it does seem to ring true.
As we recently learned, iOS 6 could be even more exciting for upgrading users than we previously thought, with some hardware getting impressive new features; the iPhone 4S, for one, will receive the same new panoramic photo support as the iPhone 5.
Be warned, though: anyone concerned with jailbreaking their handset should proceed with appropriate caution. Unless you want to risk locking-down your phone, you might be wise to hold off on upgrading until given the clear by devs in the jailbreak community. We’re sure we’ll be hearing from them shortly.
