We were just talking about HTC’s rumored 1080p five-inch Android and learned of a potential launch name for it, the Droid Incredible X. As we await some sort of official confirmation, not just of the handset’s existence, but also of how it will come to market, we’ve got one new name to throw in the running, thanks to a supposed press render of the upcoming handsets referring to it as the HTC One X 5.
This name actually sounds more in keeping with HTC’s current naming strategy, especially if what we’ve been hearing about its Windows Phone 8 lineup is true. So, maybe we’d get a couple new One X Android variants in the coming months, with both this One X 5 and the One X+ on the horizon. Of course, we could end up seeing this one arrive under both rumored names, with Droid Incredible X reserved for the Verizon edition.
The phone depicted here does tend to generally match what we’ve seen of the handset in those very blurry pics, including that thick red stripe on the phone’s long edges that doesn’t quite extend to the top and bottom. Still, this wouldn’t be that hard to fake, so we’ll be on the lookout for that One X 5 name to pop up again elsewhere, possibly adding some credence to this find.
