Depending on whom you talk to, Windows Phone 7.8 could still be quite a way’s off, arriving some time after Windows Phone 8 hits the scene. That might explain some of Microsoft’s recent behavior, like asking for user input on features at a time when most of us would have thought that the code was locked and the release version should already be in-testing. We’re still not sure just what the current status of WP7.8 is, but if this new leak is to be believed, there’s already a version up-and-running on Nokia’s Lumia 800.
We’ve already seen WP7.8 on a 900, but this may be our first look at it on one of Nokia’s earlier handsets. It’s difficult to speak to the authenticity of these, but the still shots certainly look like we’d expect them to, and the video (embedding disabled, so check the source link below) of the ROM running in a simulator does seem to have all the proper animations in place.
What do you think, is this an early look at Windows Phone 7.8, or just some clever fakery?
