The iPhone 5 may be today’s big news, but for those of you who will be holding on to your existing Apple smartphone for just a little bit longer, Apple’s got plenty of new treats for you in iOS 6.
We got our first peek at iOS 6 during the WWDC this summer, and Apple’s continued to share details of the software at today’s iPhone 5 event. By now, you must be itching to get your hands on the new platform, and Apple’s now revealed how it will arrive.
In one week, on September 19, Apple will release iOS 6 to users of existing hardware.
Following that, sometime closer to late October, Apple will follow-up with a new iTunes, featuring a new edge-to-edge layout, improved album views, and new social components; artists will be able to share photos directly with fans. The mini-player gets a new look, as well, and you’ll be able to directly manage playlists from it.
