It’s no secret that Research in Motion is on a rough patch (to say the least) and that HTC, not so long ago the number one Android OEM, is now struggling too. Its devices are still preferred by millions but Samsung has taken the lead and HTC is yet to release a phone (or an entire line-up) which would boost it back to the top. The One series failed to consolidate HTC as the number one Android device maker and now the company is preparing to unveil a couple of new Windows Phone devices (as well as probably Android refreshes too).

“I don’t have any knowledge but that is not to say we are not looking at it. But from my point of view we are not saying we are closed to a new operating system. We will review each one to make sure it’s the best for our customers”, said Graham Wheeler, director of product management at HTC for EMEA, while asked about RIM’s plans to save itself and license out its BlackBerry OS.

HTC recently announced the Desire X and we’re eagerly waiting to see the One X+, which would probably compete head to head with the Galaxy S III from Samsung. Let’s not forget about the rumored Windows Phone 8 line-up as well as the Flyer tablet follow-up. We’re eagerly waiting for that September 19 event.
