Is Apple’s expected iPhone 5 announcement getting carriers and retailers worried about what the handset’s arrival will mean for sales of their existing smartphone stocks? We don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but the timing certainly makes sense, and Amazon sure seems to be pushing the Galaxy S III especially hard. That means a new bargain-bin price, through one that will be available for a limited time only.
Right now, Amazon’s got the 16GB edition of Samsung’s Galaxy S III selling for just about $100 on-contract. The selection’s not bad, with the phone available for Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T; so long as you didn’t have your heart set on T-Mobile, you’re golden. It looks like this deal is only applicable to customers starting new service on either a personal or family plan, and not for existing subscribers making an upgrade or adding a line. Still, even with that restriction, it makes for a pretty decent deal.
There’s no telling how long this offer will last, so if you’ve been eying a GS3, you might want to make up your mind quickly.
