This little number caught our eye at IFA, and though it doesn’t meet the strictest definition of “brand-spanking new,” having been announced at MWC many moons ago, we wanted to shoot a quick-look video anyway because it’s so darn cool. To our eyes, the uncreatively-named AT270 (“Android Tablet,” get it?) resembles something of a cross between a Nexus 7 and an iPad, with the size and portability of the former and the build quality of the latter. The screen, a 7-inch AMOLED panel, features amazing color saturation and excellent blacks, while performance is solid on Android ICS.
The only thing that gives us pause on this tablet: the price. While we couldn’t get Toshiba to give us an exact quote, several folks told us the tablet would show up on store shelves between $550 and $650, which might’ve been do-able back when it was first announced, but to our eyes, that’s just too much to ask in a post-Nexus 7 world. No matter how beautiful the screen is (and it is).
