We just got done talking about Amazon running out of first-gen Kindle Fires, and wondering what that means for the likelihood of a follow-up tablet launch in the near future. Well, if this afternoon’s latest leak is accurate, it looks very much like a new Kindle Fire is right around the corner.
The image above is supposed to be Amazon’s next Kindle Fire; there’s been no solid indication of what the company might name the tablet, but Kindle Fire 2 seems as likely as any. If the rumors play out that there might be two-such new tablets, a seven-inch and a ten-inch version, the naming might get a little more complicated.
Supposedly, there’s at least one additional image of this tablet available, but the source requested in not be published. That pic shows what’s described as a “streamlined” interface, but that’s not necessarily how the tablet will arrive when it hits retail.
This is probably the seven-inch version we’re looking at. Even if Amazon does come out with two new Fires, they won’t both necessarily be released, or even announced, at the same time.
Update: This might not be the Kindle Fire 2, but another Amazon tablet.
