It’s hard to call the rumored HTC Proto a “Prototype”, but hey, there’s just no other way to call it I guess. The great thing is that it doesn’t seem like if HTC is once again running out of names. Proto seems to be just another of the weird code names that we find HTC using for their unreleased handsets, and rumors now have the device gaining the probable name of Desire X.
It seems that a Swedish site just found listings of four online retailers in Sweden and one in Norway where the device is being called Desire X. The interesting part is that about all this is that the Proto is in no way a flagship device when it comes to specs. We’ve all known how the HTC Desire and Desire HD line-up were both their best smartphones at the time of their release, and the X of the current HTC line-up also follows this same path. The Proto is rumored to barely have the specs of the HTC One V, which failed to impress in our review.
Could this be one of the devices we’ll se launched at IFA? To be honest with you, I hope it’s not the only thing HTC launches for their own sake.
