We just got done talking about the latest Nokia Windows Phone 8 rumors, and now we have a new, official look at one of the company’s designs, thanks to a US Design Patent granted just a few days ago. Could this model be the codename Phi we’ve been hearing so much about?
Look closely at these images, and you’ll start to notice how they deviate from previous Lumia series designs. For instance, that bottom edge appears to have a micro USB port right between two speaker grilles. On the 900, there’s a single grille down there, and the USB is up top. Here, we can see that Nokia moved the headphone jack from one corner of the top edge to dead-center.
This design seems to show a flat glass panel for the phone’s display, though there just might be a hint of a curve at the edges. We’ve been wondering if the Phi might arrive with curved glass after seeing its prototype hardware. That clearly wasn’t finished, what with its old-style Windows logo, so maybe the design’s been changed to use a flatter component. Or, maybe, we’re looking at another one Nokia’s upcoming designs here, instead of the Phi itself.
