Motorola Helps You Officially Unlock Your Device

We’ve seen this done before by other phone makers and Motorola is finally joining the club of OEMs that help you officially unlock your phone. There’s a new website called “Unlock My Device” where you can navigate to and follow the instructions to successfully unlock your Motorola smartphone (yes, singular).

There are five steps to the procedure: 1. check whether your device can be unlocked, 2. install fastboot and the Android SDK, 3. install the latest Motorola USB Drivers, 4. verify fastboot recognizes your device, and 5. sign a warranty waiver and release. One of the first things you will have to agree to is the fact that you will void your warranty if you go through the process. However, if you’re the type who doesn’t stop while reading that, head over to the source link and check the system out, only if you have the Photon Q 4G (which you probably don’t), RAZR Developer Edition, XOOM and XOOM WiFi.

Fingers crossed more devices will be added soon!
