Nokia might not plan on showing off anything groundbreaking at the upcoming IFA in Berlin but there were rumors surrounding Windows Phone 8 at the upcoming Nokia World, happening between September 5 and 6 — kind of simultaneously with the Berlin show.
Nokia phone running Windows Phone 8 will be released “relatively near term”, said Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia, while in Oslo for a meeting with carrier Telenor. While this does not serve as a confirmation of Nokia devices at Nokia World, it definitely is a good hint of what we might expect and when.
Many commenters concluded that Nokia made a wrong decision when they decided to go with Microsoft’s Windows Phone back in the day. However, Elop said that ”I don’t think about rewinding the clock and thinking about competing elsewhere [...] In today’s war … (between) Android, Apple and Windows, we are very clear, we are fighting that with the Windows Phone”.
This information comes relatively hot on the heels of recent leaks showing off a purported Nokia Windows Phone 8 front glass as well as details concerning Nokia devices being offered to top Windows Phone developers.
