Lenovo announced the ThinkPad Tablet 2, its first slate specifically designed for Windows 8. Since it is powered by an Intel Atom processor, we’re looking at a tablet which is running Windows 8 Pro, after the initial ThinkPad was powered by Google’s Android mobile platform.
It sports a 10.1-inch screen with 1,366 x 768, pen precision input, Intel Atom processor, two cameras (eight-megapixel at the back, two-megapixel on the front), 3G and 4G capability, NFC, fingerprint reader, and measures 9.8 mm in thickness and less than 600 grams (1.3 pounds) weight. There will also be an optional keyboard and dock with USB ports for easy connectivity. It will be available “when Windows 8 launches in October” says the official press release, but there is so-far no information regarding the official price.
