While the HTC Salsa and the HTC ChaCha were not actual Facebook phones, the Taiwanese phone maker tried to make it really easy for users to share content on Facebook with the help of a dedicated button. More recently we’ve heard that HTC might be teaming up with Facebook to deliver a real Facebook phone this time.
Bloomberg is chiming in 0n the matter quoting unnamed sources familiar with the matter: Facebook’s own phone will allegedly be built by HTC and is expected one year from now, in mid-2013. While the plans were for the Facebook phone to be released this year, it has been allegedly pushed back to next year in order to allow HTC to work on other products, said the sources. On top of HTC hardware there will reportedly be a modified operating system (Android anyone?).
And, while talking about software, ex-Apple engineers are working on a brand new Facebook application for the iPhone, according to rumors. There should be an announcement in the coming months of what appears to be the biggest overhaul to the Facebook application ever.
