Pre-orders for Google’s ASUS-made Nexus 7 tablet are now on their way out to customers, with the first batch having already shipped. If you’ve already jumped at the opportunity to buy one of these babies, check your email for shipment confirmations, as some users have found that their tablets are set to start arriving as of tomorrow.
July 13 certainly beats our previous estimates for when the Nexus 7 would finally end up in customer hands, and even manages to best Google’s mid-July estimate (if we’re being technical about it) by a couple days.
While we’ve had ours for a couple weeks now, we know that plenty of you have been anxious to get your hands on the premiere Jelly Bean tablet. There’s some speculation that, once these first orders show up tomorrow, other retailers who had been taking orders for the tablet will be empowered to start shipping their own units. Consider the floodgates opened.
Once you get your new Nexus 7, be sure to check out the latest Android 4.1.1 upgrade, and you might want to look into one of the official ASUS covers (or wait for the day when smart covers for the tablet might arrive).
