The Samsung Focus on AT&T wears the model number SGH-I917 and the follow-up, the Focus 2, is codenamed the SGH-I667, also dubbed as “Mandel” in the past. Now that we’ve established the model number convention it is safe to assume that the Samsung SGH-i687 will be a future Windows Phone for AT&T.
We’ve heard about this phone recently when a bunch of possible new Windows Phone 8 handset codenames popped up but now we can take a look at the User Agent Profile for this device. The give-away is Internet Explorer 10, which is known to be Windows Phone 8′s default browser, opposed to Internet Explorer 9 on current phones (and the upcoming Windows Phone 7.8). That aside, we’re still looking at WVGA resolution for the screen but there seems to be LTE functionality. Windows Phone 8 is still far out — with an “in time for the Holidays” expected landing time-frame — so we’ve got a lot of time to sit and wait for an official announcement (or some leaks).
