HTC Teases New Tablet With Unique Feature; What Could It Be Planning?
Last month, Bloomberg reported that Microsoft wasn’t interested in having HTC prepare a Windows RT tablet, supposedly due at least in part to the manufacturer’s inexperience with such devices. That seemed like a fair point, considering we had barely seen HTC dip its toe in Android tablet waters. Now news arrives that HTC may be looking to work on its tablet résumé a little more, upon word from a company spokesman that such a model is definitely in the works and will have something very unique about it.
That’s sure managed to capture our attention; what could be this unique selling point HTC is planning? The Flyer was an early tablet model to embrace the use of a stylus, with the optional HTC Scribe, and further refining that could make for quite the compelling feature, but at this point we’d hardly call that “unique”. Then again, maybe HTC is thinking about deploying a stylus in a way that we haven’t even considered yet, or giving it some sort of dual functionality, but that’s really just a shot in the dark.
There are plenty of tablet features we’d like to see in wider deployment, like the cool kickstand on Microsoft’s Surface, but we’re hard-pressed to think of a novel design, like HTC claims it has. Maybe that just means we’ll have to be surprised; if this feature is as engaging as HTC makes it out to be, that sounds just fine with us. For now, there’s no word on just when we might hope to hear more about this tablet, let alone see it arrive.
