Galaxy Note 2 News Rumored For IFA 2012, While T-Mobile Preps For Original Note
Samsung may be well into planning the follow-up to last year’s stylus-packing Galaxy Note, with rumors suggesting the company will release a handset with a slightly-larger 5.5-inch screen. Despite this, the Note 2 supposedly wouldn’t be any wider than its predecessor, and we’ve heard that Samsung may be targeting an October release window. The latest rumor reiterates that 5.5-inch figure, and makes some new suggestions about how the phone will be announced.
According to “a source familiar with the matter”, Samsung could reveal the Note 2 at this year’s IFA in Berlin, which kicks-off on August 31. Following a very-late August or early September announcement, we might see the phone arrive in October, set to directly compete with the iPhone 5.
Beyond the screen size, the other specs for the Galaxy Note 2 sound a lot less certain, and the rumors include everything from quad-core processors to 13-megapixel cameras. We also get an update on the possibility that Samsung will use new UBP display tech in the Note 2, with the suggestion that Samsung will instead wait until its next big smartphone to introduce it.
On a related note (no pun intended), we continue to see T-Mobile getting ready to sell the original Note, even if it hasn’t announced so yet. The Note shows up in some new posters going out to T-Mobile stores for display. Last we heard, the most likely date for the Note to go up for sale is August 8.
