Tired of rumors about the upcoming release of Ice Cream Sandwich for Motorola’s Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx? Us, too; there have been tons of predictions for just when the update might see the light of day, as well as Motorola’s word to go on that the phones would see the update arrive before the end of this quarter. If you were worrying that Verizon might not live up to that deadline, worry not, as new signs from the carrier itself indicate that ICS for the RAZR is just about to drop.
Last we heard, June 12 was looking like a possible start date for ICS OTA distribution, but that clearly hasn’t come to pass. Instead, Verizon has started sending text messages to RAZR owners as of today, giving them a heads-up that ICS is about to arrive.
The messages don’t contain an ETA, but just the fact that Verizon is sending them should indicate that we’re only a matter of days away, if even that. The carrier mentions some changes users will have to adjust to, like needing to manually download a new ICS-compatible My Verizon app, but that’s hardly a chore.
With the RAZR and RAZR Maxx’s Ice Cream Sandwich updates soon to be a done deal, we wonder if Verizon will have anything to share about the RAZR HD in the coming weeks.
