Sprint and T-Mobile have committed to making the Galaxy S III available to their subscribers as of June 21. With Verizon and AT&T, though, the situation has been a little less clear, and both carriers have only revealed that they intend to open up pre-orders for the Android smartphone tomorrow, on June 6. We’d been hoping to hear that they’d join Sprint and T-Mobile on June 21 with the phone’s full availability, but it’s now looking like Verizon, at least, may be waiting along with US Cellular until July.
Two dates are being rumored for when Verizon might get the GS3, with both July 6 and July 9 looking like options. The latter appears in a leaked screenshot that claims that pre-ordered Galaxy S IIIs will ship out to their new owners by July 9. This doesn’t discount the possibility that Verizon might start making delivery on those orders on July 6, and is aiming to get them all out within that narrow window.
While this rumor doesn’t directly help us much with when Verizon might make the GS3 available in its retail locations, we’d assume that would occur roughly concurrently with the delivery of pre-orders.
We’re also left wondering if AT&T is expecting to make a similarly late arrival to the GS3 party, or if it will manage to get the phone out before the end of June.
