Last week, we got word that Samsung had run into a bit of a manufacturing snafu with the Pebble Blue version of the Galaxy S III, making the Marble White version the only option available for the moment. As it’s turning out, though, Samsung’s problems may be a bit more widespread than we then feared, with reports coming in today of problems with the availability of the smartphone in both color options.
UK retailer Clove had been planning on getting its first deliveries of the GS3 out on their way to customers beginning this Wednesday, May 30. Today, the company has updated its website to inform users that the white GS3 is facing a short delay itself, and the phone won’t start shipping until Friday, June 1. Clove still doesn’t have a confirmed date for when the phone in blue will finally be available, but it’s expecting to see those arrive sometime the following week.
We haven’t heard any theories on what may be causing this new delay, and if this is symptomatic of more manufacturing issues or just a consequence of high demand for the phone. Given that the expected North American launch of the phone is still another three weeks away, we’re hopeful that any of these supply problems currently affecting availability will be largely resolved by then.
Update: The delay for the blue GS3 could be as long as two to four weeks.
