In March Sony promised to deliver the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Tablet S and Tablet P sometime in April. While the Tablet S received its ICS treat as scheduled the Tablet P missed the mark but now Sony has rescheduled the roll-out process and, according to their calendar, it should be landing on May 24.
The Press Release was issued in Japan but the roll-out process should be a global one — at least if we judge by the similar situation of the Tablet S where the PR was issued for Japan but the update itself went out globally. Android 4.0.3 will be the build which will be sent out to Tablet P devices but there will also be additional features like the “small apps” — allowing some applications like browser window, calculator, or remote control to run on select others — or the ability to launch the camera from the lock screen and take panoramic pictures.
