HTC EVO 4G LTE Finally Arriving Next Week, Says Best Buy

Up until a couple days ago, things had been looking good for the retail launch of HTC’s EVO 4G LTE on Sprint this coming Friday. All of a sudden, though, word arrived that HTC’s shipments were being held-up in US Customs, in order to verify compliance with an International Trade Centre order stemming from a complaint brought-on by Apple. While HTC expressed confidence that the EVO 4G LTE, along with the company’s One X, didn’t include the features restricted by that ITC decision, we weren’t sure just how long the delay might affect the phone’s arrival. It now looks like things will be resolved shortly, with signs that the EVO 4G LTE could hit retail as soon as next Wednesday.

Best Buy has reportedly been sending emails out to customers who pre-ordered the smartphone, informing them that the retailer is now expecting the phone to arrive on May 23.

Sprint hasn’t shared any recent updates regarding the situation, but we’re hoping that this news out of Best Buy is nonetheless accurate; we doubt the company would tempt fate while dealing with customers who have already seen one delay without being sure this updated release info is right on the money.
