The LG Optimus Elite was announced for Sprint on April 17, with an availability date set for May 18, but with the same occasion Sprint confirmed the Optimus Elite for Virgin mobile, without giving out any specific details though. However, the phone on Virgin is now available three days before its Sprint cousin and it’s going for $149.99.
Under the hood the LG Optimus V successor features improved specifications over its predecessor while still keeping them modest: a 3.5-inch screen with HVGA resolution, 800MHz processor, and a five-megapixel autofocus main camera with flash. One thing to note though is that the Optimus Elite will pack Near Field Communications (NFC), which is a first for Virgin Mobile. As expected for such a mid/low-range device, it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread but those who grab one can download Box and get 50GB of free cloud storage and sharing.
