The phone we used to know by the codename Golf — which made an appearance recently — was rumored to end up on shelves as either the HTC Wildfire C or the HTC Desire C. The Taiwanese phone maker made the device official and the HTC Desire C is their newest Android smartphone with Beats Audio integration. It is marketed by HTC as an accessible device but with a premium design.

It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC’s own Sense 4.0 on top of it. Under the hood there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor clocking in at 600MHz — of course single-core — so don’t expect stellar experience like you’d get on the One X. There’s a 3.5-inch HVGA display with 320×480 resolution, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot and your 25GB DropBox online storage), five-megapixel camera sans LED flash at the back and a VGA front-facer for video calling on the front. HTC added Beats Audio integration to the phone which will be available in select European countries starting May, with a recommended price of €200 (around $255).
