Instagram Update Brings Tilt-Shift to Android
If it wasn’t already clear just how popular Instagram was, last month’s announcement that Facebook was shelling-out a cool billion for the company should have wiped any doubt from your mind. That news was hot off the release of the app’s Android debut, bringing the iOS favorite to a new, huge audience. At the time, though, we noticed how there were just a few bits missing from the Android version. Now Instagram is playing catch-up, updating its Android app to bring it closer to the iOS original.
While Instagram for Android shipped with the majority of the effects supported by its iOS cousin, it lacked the ability to simulate tilt-shift photography. That’s a neat trick that can be used to play with perspective, giving the photographer control over selective focus. Its absence wasn’t a deal-breaker in any sense, but we were still hoping to see the company unify its apps features across platforms. In any case, that’s a moot point now, as today Instagram for Android gets an update bringing tilt-shift to the app. (iOS screens shown above)
